Over zichzelf
I am an a British expat from Scotland and have been living in the Netherlands with my girlfriend for over 3 years, in which time I have been employed as a senior hovenier with a company based in Wassanaar. My duties have included both works in construction and maintenance of parks, gardens, schools, green spaces and amenity spaces such as private carparks.
I have been responsible for the long term upkeep of many different properties over the last 3 years, and have assisted with the construction and maintenance of others. I have been responsible for overseeing the work of colleagues on site, meeting deadlines and working within budgets as well as regular communication with customers. I have had to ensure that all necessary tools and equipment are available for use and in good working order, to ensure my colleagues and I are capable of meeting targets and producing high quality results.
Prior to moving to The Netherlands, I owned and ran a small landscape gardening business in the northeast of Scotland for almost 10 years. The services offered to clients ranged from initial planning and designing, construction and design implementation, as well as the maintenance of new and mature gardens and green spaces.
Long term contracts I held in this time included private gardens, public parks and green spaces, country estates, farms and agricultural land, private amenity areas and green spaces around apartment complexes.
I have a strong passion for garden maintenance and design, with a total of 16 years professional experience. I also, over the years, have helped manage community allotment plots in my spare time as well as volunteer work in The Cruikshank Botanical Gardens at the university of Aberdeen. I enjoy working with others, sharing knowledge, tips and techniques that helps me to continue to refine my skills as a gardener.
